cut-out backgrounds
(post-exposure deletion of background)

Cutting the background out of a photograph disqualifies it from both Q2 and Q7 (respected news agencies do not allow cut-out backgrounds in information-reportage applications).

A photograph with a cut-out background cannot qualify for the “Guaranteed TCQ” label.

In keeping with rinairs, photographs may only be cropped to a rectangular or square shape if they are to remain eligible to qualify for the “Guaranteed TCQ” label.

Note that photographs with blown-out (under- or overexposed) backgrounds can remain eligible to qualify for the “Guaranteed TCQ” label.

See the brief on def|pen if the distinction between “blown-out” and “cut-out” backgrounds is unclear.
