straight photography

“Straight photography” was a term coined in the first half of the 20th century to describe a particular visual aesthetic. (Wikipedia definition)

The term “straight photography” is never used on this website to describe TCQ photographs or any other images.

The term “straight photography” means so many different things to so many different people — just like the word art — that the term “straight photography” is no longer helpful in clarifying what is being discussed.

The term “TCQ” fills some of the roles that the term “straight photography” filled in the past, and — thanks to the Trust Checklist — fills them with much more specificity.
